On behalf of the Ontario Family Practice Nurses Group we invite you to submit an abstract for the 15th
National Family Practice Nurses Conference. The 2010 Conference is taking place
at the Hilton London, Ontario, April 23–24, 2010.
The theme of the Conference, ‘Collaboration - The Model for the Future’; is intended to
create a forum for Registered
Nurses, Nurse Practitioners (RNEC), Registered Practical Nurses and students in Ontario to present their research and ideas, participate in continuing education,
present innovative programs they are involved with in their workplace and to network and dialogue for the future.
Submitting an Abstract
Abstracts are invited for Concurrent Sessions and Poster Presentations. Submissions
may focus on clinical practice, education, evidenced-based practice, research, theory, administration and political aspects
associated with the implementation and integration of the role and practice of a family practice nurse. All submissions will be reviewed by a selection committee for quality, relevance and scientific merit. Structured abstracts of 300 words or less are required for each submission.
Presentation Types:

· Concurrent Session – This is a 75-minute oral presentation, including a 15 minute question period.
· Poster Presentation - Tell us what you are doing in your Family Health Team that is collaborative and unique! We encourage poster submissions so that research
findings, new ideas, innovations and advances in the field may be shared with as many individuals as possible. Poster Presentations
allow presenters and attendees to engage in extended discussion about the author’s presentation that is in illustrated
format on a poster board. Poster boards must be able to fit on a 6’ table
and all posters will be placed in a common area. Presenters are asked to be at
their assigned poster board during the entire length of the poster presentation.
Suggested Themes:
Based on the theme for the 2010 Conference, ‘Collaboration-The Model for the Future’,
we invite you to submit an abstract focused on one of the following suggested topics or alternatively the committee welcomes
abstracts on other topics relevant to nurses in Family Practice:
· Diabetes
· Chronic Pain Management
· Wound Care
· Advocating for your Scope
of Practice
· Women’s Health
· Infant and Childhood
· Chronic Diseases
· Computerizing your office
· Collaboration in Triage
· Care for the elderly
